The head of state received Minister of Justice Azamat Yeskaraev. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the results of the activities of the justice authorities and plans for the coming period. The head of state was presented with the areas of work in which further reforms will be carried out. This is reported by MIA “Kazinform” with reference to the press service of Akorda.
The minister announced the completion of the revision of the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, within which more than 1,000 articles and 1,200 proposals were analyzed. As a result, an appropriate draft law has been developed that takes into account the issues of strengthening the protection of the rights of citizens and entrepreneurs and makes it possible to exclude the unreasonable involvement of business in the orbit of criminal prosecution.
According to Azamat Yeskaraev, comprehensive measures are being taken to improve the quality of legislation. In particular, measures are envisaged to strengthen the work of the interdepartmental commission on legislative activities; ensuring the stability of legislation through the broad involvement of representatives of the scientific community; strengthening information support for reforms.
The President also got acquainted with a pool of 12 projects that provide for measures to automate and digitalize the issues under his supervision and public services.
Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on the importance of the qualitative implementation of the tasks assigned to the ministry and gave a number of instructions aimed at further improving legislation and strengthening the protection of citizens’ rights.
