Kate Winslet mentioned Ukraine when answering a question about bravery in cinema

She said this in an interview Time.

48-year-old British actress Kate Winslet shared her thoughts about shooting in the biographical film directed by Ellen Kuras “Lee”, which tells the story of the American photographer Lee Miller. Winslet played the main role in the war drama.

Responding to a comment that she is very brave to show her body on screen – and this after years of bullying because of her weight, which Winslet endured early in her career, the actress noted that she does not consider it brave. She noted that the word annoys her when it’s applied to women who don’t wear makeup or feel comfortable in their bodies.

In one of the scenes, Miller relaxes topless with his friends – an image of pre-war bliss. Winslet says she wanted to be the “softest physical version” of herself in the film, but notes that Leigh never appears naked in a sexual context. When someone on set told her to tuck her stomach in and sit up straight, her reaction was, “You think I don’t know you can see that? I just said, ‘I’m fine.’

“It’s not damn brave. I’m not a former postmaster who fights for justice, I’m not in Ukraine. I’m doing work that’s important to me,” the actress emphasized.
