KATE Winslet says she doesn’t mind being recognised for her work. But she wants realistic recognition.

In an interview with Time magazine to promote her new film, “Lee,” which tells the story of model-turned-famous war photographer Lee Miller, the Oscar-winning actress shared her views on the true meaning of courage.

Winslet said she does not believe the word “brave” should be used to describe women in showbiz who are comfortable with themselves or choose not to wear make-up in public.

“That’s not really ‘brave,'” Winslet said. “I’m not an ex-postal worker fighting for justice, I’m not in Ukraine. I’m doing a job that’s important to me.”

Winslet worked on her new film with Ellen Kuras, the director she first worked with on 2004’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

“Kate is very brave and is someone who, like Lee Miller, cares about women and pays attention to what’s going on,” Kuras told the publication. “Kate looks behind the scenes, just like Lee Miller looks behind the scenes.”

Although Winslet has mostly worked with male directors, she says it has not affected her work.

“I always play women who, hopefully, are real women,” Winslet said.

“Lee” will hit U.S. theaters on September 27. (CNN/Z-3)
