Kayaking down the Lesse: visitors ready to set foot in the water

The current levels of our streams and rivers are very low and this threatens economic activity this summer.

In Gendron this Sunday morning, many heard that the water level might be a problem. They therefore hastened to reserve their descent of the Lesse for the days to come. And everyone is already ready to put their feet in the water to push the kayak if the level were to drop.

With a flow greater than 1.5 m³/second, it is possible to paddle on limited courses but nevertheless worthy of interest in terms of tricky obstacles and remarkable sites.

It remains to be seen how long the Lesse will still host tourist activity. Rain is forecast for next week, but kayak companies are relying instead on natural resources to raise the level of the rivers.

“The water tables that feed the river are filled so we depend on a maximum of factors and there are regarding ten springs and small streams which are tributaries of the Lesse which give a maximum and can therefore maintain a reasonable start and the activity”says Olivier Pitance, managing director of Dining Escape.

Your freshness day is therefore not yet wasted.
