Kazakhstan.. Preparing a genetic file for citizens to prevent diseases

Kazakhstan – Scientists at Astana University are preparing a genetic file that helps determine citizens’ susceptibility to diseases, allowing them to better prevent and treat in the future.

Scientists at Nazarbayev University in the Kazakh capital, Astana, are creating a genetic profile of citizens, which helps determine their susceptibility to disease. This was stated by the spokesman for the Kazakh government press service following a meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees, which was held under the supervision of Prime Minister Olgas Bektenov.

The council members were briefed on the university’s laboratories and the latest innovations of its scientists. Teams in the university’s laboratories are working to develop artificial intelligence and study innovations in the field of optoelectronics to apply environmentally friendly technologies and expand the capabilities of diagnosing and treating complex diseases.

Ainur Akilzanova, Acting Director of the Center for Life Sciences at Nazarbayev University, said: “One of the main areas that we are working on developing in our laboratory is studying the Kazakh reference genome, that is, the extent to which we are distinguished and different from others, in order to prepare a reference genomic database for genome changes.”

It should be noted that, based on this method, scientists are preparing a genetic file for citizens, which will help in the future determine the extent of their susceptibility to disease, allowing them to better prevent and treat diseases.

The Prime Minister set the tasks of integrating science and production, as well as expanding the possibilities of access to scientific infrastructure for the Kazakh scientific community. He stressed that “the university needs to strengthen and develop scientific and educational resources, and strengthen partnerships with industrial institutions to market their innovations.” All of this will contribute to the growth of the role of science in the country’s economy.”
