The Kennedy site is the third Walloon hospital to obtain state-of-the-art S2 approval for its treatment of strokes. An S2 center called “Stroke Center”, which unlike the S1 level, is capable of providing all acute stroke care. A reference center for Hainaut!

Every day, 70 Belgians are affected by a stroke. Like a heart attack, it is a medical emergency. And contrary to popular belief, it impacts people of all ages and represents the leading cause of motor disability in adults. The signs are important to recognize.

The Kennedy site at Helora University Hospital recently obtained state-of-the-art S2 approval for its acute stroke care. A reference center for Hainaut. The neurovascular unit at the Kennedy site welcomes and takes care of patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The hospital also benefits from a neurological revalidation service, patients are taken care of there as soon as they are medically stabilized.

The Mons hospital’s commitment to the treatment of strokes is not new. In 2015, the site received approval for a basic care program, S1. Since then, the patient care journey has evolved significantly with the obtaining of state-of-the-art S2 approval this year. This required a lot of work between the different departments of the hospital.
