Piacenza, May 15th. – (Adnkronos) – bring together and encourage cooperation among the numerous Italian companies leading globally in the nuclear sector, with the aim of consolidating a competitive national chain and promoting a national nuclear plan. These are some of the objectives of the first edition of Nuclear Power-Expo, the event scheduled from 21 to 23 May 2025 in the Piacenza Expo exhibition district, organized by the MediaPoint & Exhibitionsi company Fabio Potestà. The first edition of Nuclear Power -Expo – which aims to become the reference event at national level in the nuclear energy sector – comes in a decisive moment for the sector, with many European countries ready to invest in new central and in the ammodation of existing ones.
Also in Italy, after years of ideological debates and contrasts, the theme of the return to civil nuclear energy has returned to the center of attention. A reopening favored by the significant progress of research in terms of safety and the growing urgency to achieve the objectives of climate neutrality by 2050. “To support industrial competitiveness, the safety and social development of the country – declares Gian Luca Artizzu, CEO of Sogin – Italy must have adequate tools and infrastructures for the importance of the challenges that await it. See the renewables supported by nuclear power, which provides energy in a stable, safe and continuous way, and is devoid of climbing and polluting emissions. nuclear “.
“Nuclear energy is a reliable and programmable source, it can act as a ‘systemic stabilizer’, play a complementary role to that of renewable sources and guarantee low cost energy to our businesses”, adds the general manager of Enea, Giorgio Graditi, “represents, therefore, a fundamental option for the objectives of decarbonization and can help reduce energy costs, the emissions of climbing and, at the same time, at the same time. relaunching and competitive development of a national industrial chain which is already of absolute importance “.
Yet, the road to the affirmation of an Italian nuclear supply chain is still long, as explained by the president of the Italian Nuclear Association (AIN), Stefano Monti: “Many Italian companies are particularly active in nuclear projects abroad. But talking about an Italian supply chain, presupposes coordination among all the subjects, especially when we are in the presence of a national nuclear program. We know that important actions have been started by the executive, but we still cannot say Italian nuclear “. For Monti, “we do not start from scratch, but from an Italian nuclear sector already appreciated internationally. We must organize ourselves for short -term creations abroad and prepare for those in Italy, when we have a defined and mature program”. So, concludes Monti, it is necessary to “put in place all the actions necessary to prepare the conditions and then have an industrial supply chain ready to support our nuclear program”.
On the same line Paolo Fedeli, president of the Italian Association of Pressure Equipment (AIPE), which represents about 200 mechanical and calmareria manufacturing companies, many of which already operational in the nuclear field: “The Italian nuclear supply chain represents an industrial and technological excellence which, despite a long period of discontinuity, has never stopped innovating, exporting and contributing to international projects of absolute importance. Concrete for our country: the debate on the return to civil nuclear energy, also thanks to new technologies such as new generation modular reactors (Small Modular Reactors SMR and Advanced Modular Reactor Amr) and the merger, can finally translate into an industrial strategy and long -term energy policy “.
To certify the level of excellence of the Made in Italy research, Professor Marco Ricotti, professor of nuclear plants at the Polytechnic of Milan and president of the Interuniversity Consortium for Nuclear Technological Research (CIRTEN), which brings together the seven Italian nuclear universities (the Polytechnic of Milan and Turin and the Universities of Bologna, Padua, Palermo, Pisa and Rome – La Sapienza): “as emerged from a recent study of the Politecnico di Milan, the Italian nuclear manufacturing chain would be able to create more than eight pressure containers (the largest and most complex components of the SMRs) per year.
An excellent synthesis of the purposes that stands Nuclear Power-Expo is offered by Women in Nuclear Italy, through its president, Céline Conoreu: “Like Women in Nuclear Italy, we are enthusiastic to participate in Nuclear Power Expo, an important opportunity to promote the dialogue between institutions, businesses and citizenship on the role of nuclear in the country’s energy transition. Italian nuclear is not only an energy choice, but also a concrete opportunity for industrial, economic, technological and employment growth “. “Our country boasts academic excellence and research centers that form hundreds of young people, men and women every year, with very high level skills in the fields of engineering, physics and nuclear technology”, adds UNAU, “it is essential to create the conditions for these professionals to find concrete space and prospects also in Italy, actively contributing to the construction of a safe, innovative and low emissions.
Fabio Potestà, director of MediaPoint & Exhibitions, said: “With Nuclear Power Expo we want to offer the Italian nuclear sector a concrete platform of meeting, comparison and development. Our country already has industrial and scientific skills of absolute importance: it is time to enhance them and coordinate them in view of the great energy challenges that await us in the future. Period, to the definition of a true national nuclear strategy, which can encourage investments, innovation and qualified employment.
Nuclear Power-Expo will take place in conjunction with two other reference events, respectively in the energy and computer security sector, namely Hydrogen-Expo and Cybsec-Expo: the three initiatives have obtained a broad institutional support, with numerous patrons granted both from the main category organizations and from prominent entities and institutions. Among all, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Piacenza, the Conference of Regions and autonomous provinces and again, the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (Aeneas) and the Sogin Group.
As per tradition for the events signed by MediaPoint & Exhibitions, a gala dinner reserved for the participants of the event and their guests will also be scheduled on the occasion of the Power-Expo Nuclear, which will take place on May 22 in the Arazzi room of the Alberoni Gallery in Piacenza, for a moment of networking in a context of great historical and cultural prestige.
