Kentucky Moves Up to No. 8 in Latest AP Poll Ahead of Tennessee Matchup

Kentucky football has captured another national ranking bump heading into November, climbing to No. 8 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll following a brief one-week stay at No. 9. The Wildcats secured the upward movement without stepping on the field during a timely bye week, echoing a similar rise in the recent Coaches Poll where the program landed at No. 7.

As head coach Will Stein prepares his squad for the final stretch of the regular season, the program finds itself firmly in the conversation as a consensus College Football Playoff contender. With the initial November rankings officially set, the Wildcats sit inside a top 10 dominated by heavyweights, led by Miami (FL) at No. 1 and followed by Georgia at No. 2 after the Bulldogs swapped spots with Ohio State, which tumbled nine places to No. 11.

Utah climbed to No. 3, Notre Dame sits at No. 4, UCLA holds No. 5, Indiana rests at No. 6, and BYU stands at No. 7 right ahead of Kentucky. Rounding out the top 10 are Alabama at No. 9 and Texas at No. 10.

Navigating the Final Stretch of the SEC Schedule

The path forward requires consistency as the Wildcats tackle a demanding closing slate. Next up is a matchup against No. 16 Tennessee, a Volunteers squad that held steady through its own bye week. Following that encounter, Kentucky will wrap up its regular-season schedule by hosting No. 25 Florida in Lexington, traveling to face No. 19 Missouri in Columbia, and welcoming Louisville to Kroger Field for the annual regular-season finale.

To secure an automatic bid in the newly expanded 12-team playoff field, the Wildcats need to capture just three victories out of their final four games. Securing three wins across the remaining league schedule would also punch Kentucky’s ticket to Atlanta for a showdown in the SEC Championship Game on December 5.

With the program positioned favorably coming out of the bye, Stein and his staff must now translate regular-season momentum into execution as the playoff race enters its most critical phase.
