The KEPE’s proposal, revealed by the “Free Press”, is submitted to the Ministry of Labor and within the week the responsible minister, Domna Michailidou, is expected to make her own proposal to the Council of Ministers, which will also decide on the final increase.

The final decision will be announced next Friday and it is not excluded that there will be surprises for a larger increase, for the additional reason that the government is now starting to abandon the extraordinary financial aid and holiday allowances and is moving to measures of a permanent nature, which will strengthen in a constant based on low primary incomes.
All estimates show that the increase will be around 50 euros, with the new minimum wage being around 830 euros from April 1.
The compass of decisions will be the indicator of accuracy, since food inflation “runs” at 10% and mainly eats away at the income of low-wage earners. However, the strengths of businesses, and especially small and medium-sized ones, will not be overlooked, as the goal is to provide an increase that can be paid for by employers.
The most likely possibility is that the new salary will be between 825 and 830 euros, from the current 780 euros.
Allowances
About 550,000 workers are paid the minimum wage. At the same time, the increase in the minimum wage affects the unemployment allowance received by approximately 140,000 people, the special allowances for approximately 300,000 seasonal workers, while linked to the minimum wage is also the special provision of maternity protection, which after its extension to single mothers professionals and women farmers will be granted for 9 months to approximately 60,000 eligible mothers with an amount equal to the minimum wage.
Three years
With the new increase in the minimum wage, the three-year terms are also automatically increased, as they correspond to 10% of the respective basic wage. The 10% increase per three years of seniority is used up to 30% for those with 3 three years (i.e. 9 years of seniority) and above.
The three years were suspended after 2012 and resumed from 1/1/2024.
In terms of benefits, the most basic is the unemployment benefit, which, with the scenario for a minimum wage of 820 euros, will rise to 503 euros, while with a salary of 830 euros the benefit will reach 509 euros from 479 euros which it is now .
The unemployment benefit is also given a 10% increase for each dependent member that the unemployed person has on his tax return. This means that with unemployment benefit at 509 euros and two protected members, an unemployed person will receive 610 euros instead of the 574 euros he receives today.
