Mumbai: Kerala beat Himachal Pradesh by 35 runs in the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 tournament. Chasing the target of 169 runs set by Kerala, Himachal was bowled out for 128 runs in 19.1 overs. Vinod Kumar and Shreyas Gopal took four wickets each to defeat Himachal. KM Asif and Sijomon Joseph took one wicket each.
Himachal Pradesh captain Rishi Dhawan won the toss and sent Kerala into bat. The batting of Vishnu Vinod (44), Sachin Baby (30) and Salman Nisar (23) brought Kerala to the dreaded score. Captain Sanju Samson is dismissed for one run. Mayank Dhagar took three wickets and Mukul Negi two wickets for Himachal.
