Archyde News had the chance to speak with the delighted Máire O’Sullivan, the Kerry resident who has just scooped the incredible €2.274,988 Lotto jackpot. Even tho still processing her win, Máire graciously answered a few questions, sharing her unique story and thoughts on her exceptional luck.
Congratulations Máire! You’re the third Lotto jackpot winner of 2025. Can you tell us about the moment you discovered you had won the jackpot?
Máire: “Thank you! Its still all so surreal. I checked my numbers on the app last night, my heart started pounding when I saw all six numbers matched. I thought I must be seeing things, so I double-checked, then triple-checked! I was shaking and couldn’t believe it. I woke up my husband, and we just hugged and laughed in disbelief.”

Máire: “I used a fast pick, so I didn’t choose the numbers.I always do that – lets fate decide, I say! Never in my wildest dreams did I think fate would bless me with this!”
You’re now the fifth National Lottery millionaire of the year. How do you plan to enjoy and manage this life-changing windfall?
Máire: “First, we’ll treat our family and friends to a lovely holiday. We’ve never had a big vacation together, and this seems like the perfect time. We’ll also pay off some bills and maybe start thinking about setting up a small business. I’ve always dreamed of running a little café by the sea. But for now, we’re just taking it all in, one step at a time.”
What advice would you give to other Kerry lottery players still hoping for their big win?
Máire: “I’d say, never give up hope! I’ve been playing for years and never won more than a tenner. Then, out of nowhere, fate smiles on you. So, keep playing, keep dreaming, and who knows – maybe 2025 will be your year to!”
