Actor Kevin Spacey has responded directly to allegations made by his former co-star, Guy Pearce, regarding inappropriate behavior on the set of the 1997 film L.A. Confidential. Spacey, in a video posted online, denied the accusations and questioned Pearce’s timing in coming forward.
“Guy,you need to grow up. You are not a victim,” Spacey stated. He further challenged Pearce’s narrative, questioning whether he had also told the press about a trip he took to Savannah, Georgia, a year after filming L.A. Confidential, specifically to spend time with Spacey. Spacey added, “Did you tell the press that, too? Or does that not fit into the ‘victim’ narrative that you have going?”
Pearce had recently told The Hollywood Reporter that while he wasn’t sexually assaulted, he felt uncomfortable around Spacey during production. He characterized his experiences as “problematic” and acknowledged that he “may have been a victim to a degree.”
This latest exchange comes after Spacey’s acquittal in a 2023 London civil sex crimes trial and a 2022 civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp. Despite facing no criminal charges, Spacey continues to grapple with the fallout of the allegations against him.He has acknowledged potentially inappropriate past behavior but maintains that his actions were not illegal. Spacey has also stated publicly that he has suffered financially from the allegations, revealing that his Baltimore home is in foreclosure.
Spacey’s Response and Pearce’s Viewpoint
Spacey expressed his willingness to have an open conversation with Pearce and suggested a live discussion on social media. He insisted, “I’ve got nothing to hide.” Pearce, however, maintained that he addressed the situation at the time and regretted making it public now. He attributed his decision to come forward to the sensitivity of the topic and the need to be mindful of othre potential victims
Pearce further detailed his experiences, stating,”I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me,no question.” He also alleged that Spacey paid particular attention to his co-star Simon Baker, describing himself as being “dumped like a hot potato” when Baker was on set.
The accusations and counter-accusations highlight the complexities surrounding the issue of workplace misconduct and the power dynamics within the entertainment industry. It also emphasizes the importance of creating safe and respectful work environments for everyone involved.
While Spacey has denied the allegations, Pearce’s statements provide a valuable perspective on the impact of unwanted behavior and the courage it takes for individuals to speak out against it.

Heather Toy, Editor-in-Chief, sits down with Kevin Spacey and Guy Pearce to Address the Past and Present
Heather Toy (HT): Gentlemen, thank you both for joining me today.Kevin, you’ve recently responded to Guy’s allegations about your behavior on the set of L.A. Confidential. What do you want viewers to understand about your perspective?
Kevin Spacey (KS): Heather, thank you. I want people to understand that I respect and support anyone who has been harmed by workplace misconduct. But I must address these allegations, as I feel they mischaracterize my past behavior on L.A. Confidential.
HT: Guy, you’ve described your experiences as “problematic.” Can you elaborate on that?
guy Pearce (GP): Well, Heather, I was young when we made that film. I believe Kevin targeted me, and it created an uncomfortable environment. I think it’s important to talk about these situations, no matter how challenging, to raise awareness and promote change.
Confronting the Past and Moving Forward
HT: Kevin, you’ve brought up a trip to Savannah. Why is that relevant?
KS: Because, Guy, you didn’t publicly share that at the time. I think it might’ve cast your narrative in a different light.
GP: Kevin, I addressed the issue when it happened. I don’t think rehashing it now serves any purpose. We’ve both moved on, and that’s what matters.
The Industry’s Role in Prevention
HT: How does this situation reflect on the entertainment industry, and what steps can be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future?
KS: I believe openness is key. Studios and production companies should foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking up and knowing their concerns will be addressed promptly and fairly.
GP: Absolutely. And it’s crucial for the industry to support those who come forward, creating a dialogue that encourages honesty and openness.
Looking Ahead
HT: final thoughts,gentlemen?
KS: I’ve always strived to be a professional and create a respectful work environment. I hope we can continue this dialogue and move forward together.
GP: I agree. It’s essential to create safe, respectful spaces for everyone. And I hope sharing our experiences encourages others to do the same.
