Doha | Malayalee excitement at the FIFA Volunteer Center as the interviews for the selection of FIFA World Cup volunteers enter the final stage. About 500 people, known as Pioneers Volunteers, oversee the volunteer interview process every day. 150 of them are Malayalis. The interviews which started on May 13 will end today.
About 52,000 people have been interviewed so far. Out of this 20,000 people are selected for services in 45 sectors in 30 different roles. People from more than 170 countries participated in the interviews. Between 900 and 1,300 people are interviewed every day. 14,000 will be selected from Qatar and 6,000 will be international volunteers.
The World Cup will be held from November 21 to December 18 in eight stadiums across the country.
