Kichi Zībī Mīkan Closure: Embrace Winter Run – Feb 15, 2026

by

A section of the Kichi Zībī Mīkan, Ottawa’s scenic parkway, will be partially closed to traffic on February 15, 2026, to accommodate the Embrace Winter Run 2026. The westbound lanes, from Vimy Place to Island Park Drive, will be affected between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) announced the temporary closure, advising motorists to seek alternative routes during the event. According to the NCC, the closure is limited to the westbound lanes, and no impact is anticipated for pedestrians or cyclists utilizing the parkway.

The Embrace Winter Run is an annual event that draws participants to the capital region. The NCC’s decision to facilitate the run with a partial closure of the Kichi Zībī Mīkan reflects a commitment to supporting community events while managing traffic flow.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time. The NCC has not specified any planned detours, leaving it to drivers to identify suitable alternatives. Further updates regarding the closure, if any, will be provided by the NCC.
