SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles police are investigating a kidnapping and shooting in the Sylmar area.
The incident was reported around 7 a.m. Wednesday when LAPD officers were dispatched to a possible kidnapping in the area of Encinitas Avenue and Roxford Street, an intersection close to the 5 Freeway in Sylmar.
A short time later, firefighters were called to the scene of a crash miles away in the Angeles National Forest, in the 14800 block of Little Tujunga Canyon. A man was found there with multiple gunshot wounds, in his vehicle crashed on the side of the road.
Investigators were able to determine the two incidents were linked.
Firefighters brought the victim to a local hospital. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
Officers blocked off the mountainous roadway to traffic and appeared to be examining thick brush by the side of the road for evidence.
Details on the shooting and apparent kidnapping remained under investigation. A description of possible suspects has not been released.
