Kika/Leiner houses: “Sell or rent by the end of the year”

It’s about 18 furniture stores and six logistics locations. A Supernova spokesman told OÖ Nachrichten: “The goal is to sell the property by the end of the year,” meaning either sale or long-term rental. It is even quite likely that it will be a mixture. So objects would also partially remain in Supernova’s property. Apparently there are already a few interested parties, mainly from the furniture and food industries.

In Upper Austria, Leiner Steyr and Vöcklabruck, the Vöcklabruck collection center and Kika Ried are on the recycling list. As reported, these locations will be closed at the end of July. The warehouse in Leonding and the Kika branches in Ansfelden and Linz-Urfahr that are still in operation will remain in the Supernova portfolio. Leiner Wels and Leiner Linz have belonged to the Hallmann Group since the turn of the year.

The Signa Retail Group around the Tyrolean investor René Benko sold the operative Kika/Leiner business to the Styrian Hermann Wieser. This part is in a renovation process. With the bankruptcy, 1,900 of the 3,900 employees have been made redundant. 23 out of 40 branches will be closed nationwide.
