Kike Calleja and Meli Camacho Clash in Heated TV Row Over María Teresa Campos

During a broadcast of the television program Fiesta marking the third anniversary of the death of journalist María Teresa Campos, a live dispute erupted between contributors Meli Camacho and Kike Calleja. The broadcast segment initially aimed to remember the veteran journalist’s life and career, including addressing various controversies from her past, before shifting into a direct confrontation among the panelists.

The Broadcast Clash Between Meli Camacho and Kike Calleja

The tension began after Pipi Estrada denied claims that María Teresa Campos had given money to her daughter, Terelu Campos. Following that denial, the conversation turned toward people in the late journalist’s inner circle. Meli Camacho stated that María Teresa Campos did not pay for things on her behalf, which prompted Kike Calleja to intervene.

“But recognize that there has been a lot of people who went around her who acted like freeloaders,” Calleja said on the program.

Camacho responded directly to the remark, launching a personal accusation regarding past expenses. “Well, you were in the group. You came one day and left a huge bar tab that Gustavo and I had figures to pay,” Camacho said, referencing colleague Gustavo.

Calleja strongly rejected the assertion. “You have very little shame, Meli. It’s a lie. I know you’re stung because the other day we put you on the spot and in the end we took off your mask,” he replied.

Accusations Concerning María Teresa Campos’s Inner Circle

Visibly angered by the exchange, Camacho maintained her stance and introduced private remarks attributed to the late journalist. “No one is taking my mask off,” Camacho stated, before adding, “I know what Teresa said about you: ‘I don’t like that boy at all because when he was with Terelu once, he was the one who called the journalists.’ That was told to me by Teresa.”

Calleja countered the claim immediately, challenging Camacho’s reliability regarding the Campos family. “What are you talking about? If the one who has always sold out Teresa Campos has been you. If you have been the mole for many journalists,” Calleja responded.

As the argument escalated further, Camacho dismissed Calleja’s professional standing regarding the family. “You have no criteria to talk about this topic, because you have no idea about María Teresa Campos’s life. You’ve only clung to Terelu and that’s the only thing you know,” Camacho stated.

Program host Emma García intervened to cut short the discussion as the cross-reproaches continued on air.
