Kim Gun-hee’s false career, ‘dismissal’ conclusion without subpoena investigation

It has been confirmed that the police, who have been investigating the ‘false career’ of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife Kim Gun-hee, have decided not to hand over the case to the prosecution.

It took 9 months to come to this conclusion, saying that the statute of limitations has passed and it cannot be prosecuted before questioning whether or not there is a criminal charge.

Reporter Son Ha-neul covered it.

President Yun Seok-yeol’s wife, Kim Kun-hee, started teaching at the university in 2001.

I started as a lecturer at ‘Hallym Sacred Heart University’, but I wrote down the history of an elementary school practical instructor who had no work experience at the time of application.

And when I applied to Seoil University three years later, I wrote that I had lectured at ‘Hallym University’, a 4-year university, not ‘Hallym Sacred Heart University’.

In 2014, after marrying President Yoon, I wrote that I applied for an adjunct professor at Kookmin University and became an associate professor at Korea Polytechnic University.

In this way, when it became known that Ms. Kim had submitted 20 false careers at all the 5 universities she taught at the end of last year, Ms. Kim made an official apology at the end of last year.

“Some of my careers were inflated and written incorrectly to look good. Looking back, it was a shame. Please forgive me.”

The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which has been investigating this case for nine months, has decided not to hand over Mrs. Kim to the prosecution.

The statute of limitations on the main charges has already expired, so we have come to an internal conclusion that there is no right to prosecute.

First of all, the statute of limitations on the charges of forgery of private documents and obstruction of business is 7 years, so even considering the most recent appointment at Kookmin University in 2014, it has already passed.

However, it was confirmed that the statute of limitations on the fraud charges is 10 years, so the police intensively reviewed until the last minute whether the charges could be applied.

However, the police denied the damage itself, saying, “I was not deceived by Mrs. Kim,” and that the preconditions for fraud were difficult to establish.

In addition, it was said that it was considered whether Ms. Kim’s resume submitted to five universities could be bundled into a single ‘habitual fraud’, but it was said that it was difficult to consider it as a crime to give false resumes with different contents to other universities.
