On the 14th, President-elect Yun Seok-yeol appointed Kim Han-gil (69), former representative of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy, as the chairman of the National Integration Committee under the Presidential Takeover Committee, and Kim Byung-jun (68), former chairman of the emergency response committee of the Liberty Korea Party, as the special chairman of regional balance.

President-elect Yoon announced these appointments at a meeting with Ahn Cheol-soo, the transition chairperson, held in the office of the elected president in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and emphasized that “all state affairs are ultimately for national unity.”

As a candidate for national unity, Yoon elected former Chairman Kim as the chairman of the New Era Preparation Committee of the Election Countermeasures Committee and former Chairman Kim as the permanent joint election chairman, but failed to see the light of the election due to the dissolution of the election committee. However, following Chairman Ahn, Kim Han-gil and Kim Byung-jun formed the transition committee under the ‘triangular system’, giving strength to Yoon-elect’s unification plan.

President-elect Yoon asked Chairman Ahn to form a speedy transition committee and emphasized that “we will steadily and densely take care of the roadmap for state affairs on a daily basis,” said Kim Eun-hye, a spokesperson for the elected president.

Chairman Ahn plans to finalize the composition of the transition committee within this week. At a press conference at the National Assembly, Chairman Ahn announced the appointment of Choo Kyung-ho (62), Rep. of People’s Power, Lee Tae-gyu (58), Member of the People’s Party, and Choi Jong-hak (55), professor of business administration at Seoul National University, as transition members of the Planning and Coordination Division at the National Assembly press conference.

Meanwhile, Yoon-elect announced that Kim Yong-hyeon (63), former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is being considered as a candidate for the head of the bodyguard. He is one year senior at Chungam High School of President-elect Yoon.
