According to a report by the Russian news agency RIA, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will also visit several food companies as part of his trip to Russia. According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, Kim’s trip to Russia comes at a time “when a new heyday of friendship, solidarity and cooperation begins in the history of relations between the two countries.”
On Saturday, Kim visited Russian fighter jets, hypersonic missiles and warships near Vladivostok together with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. As KCNA reported on Sunday, Kim and Shoigu discussed “practical issues related to strengthening military and security cooperation.”
Kim had previously visited, among other things, an aircraft factory and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Amur region at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Russia’s most modern space facility. The United States and its allies expressed concern regarding increasing military ties between the two neighbors.
