Valtteri Bottas has revealed that he has received some advice from Kimi Raikkonen, the predecessor of the Alfa Romeo F1 team.
Kimi Raikkonen announces his retirement from F1 after spending 20 seasons last season. Valtteri Bottas, a junior driver from Finland, has replaced the Alfa Romeo F1 team.
Valtteri Bottas, who belonged to Mercedes F1 until last year, faces the difficult task of leading the Alfa Romeo F1 team, which had been sluggish in the last two seasons, to the midfield.
The Alfa Romeo F1 team hasn’t scored just 21 points in the last two years with Kimi Raikkonen and decided not to update the C41 at all last year, dropping to 9th place in the Constructors’ Ranking.
But thanks to some words from Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas says he’s not worried about the team’s outlook.
“I asked Kimi Raikkonen at the end of last year,” Valtteri Bottas told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He explained a lot about his work within this team. He appreciated the potential of Alfa Romeo and told me that I would enjoy it.”
“But as you know, you’re not a man with a lot of words …”
“It’s an honor to drive this iconic Italian brand and I feel responsible for bringing the brand back to the top, but I don’t think it’s pressure. I’m sure it’s a big motivation.”
“For me, it’s a step forward compared to the past. I’m proud to wear these colors. It’s a lot of work and I have the opportunity to enjoy it.”
Valtteri Bottas, a 10-time Grand Prix Wener, will be the first team leader in his F1 career this season. He says Bottas, who teams up with rookie driver Guanyu Zhou, finds his new role as a leadman “fun.”
“I have a long-term contract with many responsibilities for the first time in my career. It’s the first time for me to be the most experienced driver on the team,” said Valtteri Bottas.
“I’m in F1 for the tenth season. I’ve gained a lot of experience. It’s nice to know that I have a two-year vision for goals and results, not necessarily short-term.”
“I’m ready to lead the team and work well with Guanyu Zhou.”
Valtteri Bottas has already tried the C42 pace in the F1 Barcelona test, but admits that there is a lot of “thing to do” as the Alfa Romeo F1 team has been suffering from various problems over the three days. ..
