Kinder Surprise eggs withdrawn in the UK; they relate them to salmonella

The decision was made in the last few hours by the chocolate manufacturer Ferrero, which withdrew some batches of the famous product in the United Kingdom due to a link to salmonellaaccording to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The company confirmed that the products that were withdrawn from the market are those with an expiration date between July 11 and October 7.

In accordance with The Guardianinvestigations led by the UK Health Security Agency, Public Health Scotland, Public Health Wales and the Northern Ireland Public Health Agency found a link from the product to some cases of salmonella poisoning reported across the UK United.

“Although none of our Kinder products launched on the market have tested positive for salmonella and we have received no complaints from consumers, we take this very seriously as customer care is our top priority”, the company said in a statement quoted by the outlet.

For now it is said that no other Ferrero products will be affected, considering that they are the same manufacturers of Nutella, Butterfinger and Crunch.

“The food company involved has voluntarily carried out this product recall and we are working closely with them and their competent authorities to identify the precise cause of this outbreak,” said Tina Potter, FSA Incident Manager.

According to the official, “salmonella can be spread from person to personSo anyone affected should follow good hygiene practices, such as washing hands thoroughly after using the bathroom and avoiding handling food for others when possible, if they have symptoms.”

He also clarified that salmonella bacteria cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. However, although in most cases the symptoms may be mild, there are cases that can end up in hospital.
