Countless films are made every year. These films are designed to make you laugh and think. But films don’t just aim to entertain people. The participants also want to earn money with it – and ideally also win prizes. Right now the most important film awards such as the Oscars and the Golden Globes (pronounced: golden globs) are being awarded again.
Such prizes are intended to show who was the best. So, which actresses played the best. Which film is the most worthwhile and which has the best music or costumes. Anyone who wins such an award also has many more opportunities to work on major films.
Golden Raspberry: the worst
But a “film prize” that will soon be awarded is not at all popular with filmmakers. Nobody wants to take this award home with them: the Golden Raspberry. But why actually?
The Golden Raspberry differs from other prizes in one important respect: it does not “reward” the best, but rather the worst. For example, there is a golden raspberry for the worst actor, worst actress and worst film. But even the worst “film couple” receives an award.
“Thanks for the award”
Most filmmakers don’t like that. That’s why they don’t even show up at the awards ceremony when they receive an “award.” But some actors and actresses also have fun winning this award. They then accept the Golden Raspberry themselves and give an acceptance speech.
There is also something like a “cup”. It is a plastic raspberry that has been painted gold.
This year, a number of actresses and actors are once again in the running for this unpopular prize. For example, Chris Evans (42), Ana de Armas (35) and Megan Fox (37). Who will win the Golden Raspberry will be decided on March 9th.
