United Kingdom: Emilia Clarke and Ridley Scott decorated by King Charles III
King Charles III has announced the names of 1,227 people honored in the New Year for their success or service to the United Kingdom.
Actress Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

Director Ridley Scott, actress from the Game of Thrones series Emilia Clarke and singer Shirley Bassey are among the 1,227 people honored Friday by King Charles III on the occasion of the New Year for their success or service to the United Kingdom .
A few weeks after the release of his latest film Napoleon, Ridley Scott, known for having directed Gladiator, Alien and Thelma and Louise, was elevated to the rank of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire.
The Welsh singer Shirley Bassey, already knighted and notably known for having performed three theme songs for films in the James Bond saga, was made a Companion of Honour, a highly prized award of which she is the 64th living recipient, for together his musical career. Shirley Bassey, 86, notably sang for the 50 then 60 years of reign of Elizabeth II in 2002 and 2012.
