The King of Morocco Mohammed VI visited, this Tuesday, the victims of the Al Haouz earthquake, in a hospital in the city of Marrakech and donated blood “as a sign of solidarity with the victims and the bereaved families.” .

According to the official press agency, the King visited the intensive care unit and the hospitalization unit for earthquake victims at the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Marrakech, and inspected the health services provided to the injured by medical teams, following to disaster.

According to the same source, the King of Morocco donated his blood “as a sign of solidarity with the victims and the bereaved families.”

The magnitude of the earthquake that shook Morocco on Friday reached 7 degrees on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was located in the region of Al Haouz (center), affecting several cities, including the capital Rabat, Casablanca (the largest cities in Morocco), Meknes, Fez, Marrakech, Agadir and Taroudant, according to the National Institute of Geophysics, which reported that the earthquake was “the most violent in a century”.

The King of Morocco declared three days of national mourning, Saturday evening, for those who died following the earthquake, and also ordered the acceleration of relief operations.

According to the most recent data from the Ministry of the Interior, this Tuesday, the earthquake cost the lives of 2,901 people and left 5,530 injured, in addition to significant material damage.
