LBrussels firefighters were called this Monday, around 7:40 p.m., for a kitchen fire in the municipality of Molenbeek. If the kitchen is damaged, the occupants are safe and sound. A neighbor in a state of shock and already medically weakened was however transferred to the hospital, reports the spokesperson for the firefighters.
The cause of the accident was accidental: a frying pan overheated with hot oil. Faced with a situation that can happen to many people, the firefighters’ spokesperson makes some recommendations for the best possible action. “Without putting yourself in danger, turn off the energy (gas, electricity), put a lid or a fire blanket on the container to smother the flames, leave the room by closing the door and call 112. water or move with a fryer on fire. A little additional advice: prefer the use of an electric fryer equipped with a thermostat to avoid overheating”.
