KL Rahul’s Inclusion in T20 World Cup Squad Explained by BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar

KL is that Sanju can bat in any position. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar said the reason for their inclusion in the T20 World Cup was because of Rahul. Agarkar was speaking at the first press conference following the team was selected for the T20 World Cup. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was also with him.

KL Agarkar explained Sanju’s arrival when he explained the reason behind Rahul’s exclusion. Rahul plays as an opener in IPL. He does the job assigned to him magnificently. We were mainly looking for mid-level players. “They were looking for players who might swing the bat all the way and finish well,” Agarkar said.

“So we thought Sanju and Rishabh Pant were suited for this. Sanju can bat anywhere in the batting line-up. The team chose based on what we need,” Agarkar added.

Agarkar also spoke regarding Indian finisher Rinku Singh being left out of the squad. “Rinku did nothing wrong by being left out of the World Cup squad. However, he didn’t make the final fifteen. Getting rid of him was a difficult decision. Even though he was a reserve star, there was an insistence to have him He should be with the team,” Agarkar said.

Indian squad for T20 World Cup:

Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashashwi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav , Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj are part of the team.

Shubman Gill, Aathush Khan, Rinku Singh and Khalil Ahmed are part of the reserve team.
