Klopp: Liverpool fans should stop asking for new players

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that his club will find it difficult to sign a new midfielder in the remaining hours of the current summer Mercato, due to lack of time.

Liverpool are currently missing Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain due to injury, which means that the “Reds” suffer from a clear shortage in the number of midfielders.

“The more time passes, the more difficult the situation becomes, but if the market ends, whether we sign a new player or not, I will be very happy, then we will be able to focus on the team,” Klopp said in the press conference before facing Newcastle United in the fifth round of the Premier League.

He added: “Our fans are very active on social media platforms to demand new deals, but they have to stop, we have a very good squad.”

He continued, “We are already interested in some players, and I will not mention names of course, but there are several problems, most notably that clubs that do not want to sell and things like that.”

And he added: “Some think that we have to sign new deals just because others are doing it, but we will not. The inclusion of an inappropriate player is never logical and will not be, you only want the right player.”

He explained: “You have to work with the available tools, we became champions of the league in a season in which we did not sign any player, I want to develop the club and the team and be successful.”

He continued: “We have a lot of great talent, if you see the matches of our under-23 team you will see that they are doing a great job there, but you can’t count on 3 players at the age of 17 in the same match.”

At the end of his statements, Klopp clarified the situation of a number of injured players, and said that Diogo Jota could train from Thursday, and Thiago Alcantara a little later, while Kaumen Keeler would join goalkeeper training.
