According to the National Assembly Guard and the fire department, around 7:35 p.m. on the 14th, Lee’s supporters, including Kim, a woman in her 50s, caused a disturbance by shouting in front of the hunger strike site.
At the time, supporters reportedly rioted, saying things like, “Representative Lee needs to be transported to the hospital, so why aren’t they being transported?”
An employee of the National Assembly Protection Department asked Mr. Kim to leave, but Mr. Kim and others did not comply, and even brandished scissors at the National Assembly security guards who arrived.
During this process, two female police officers received injuries to their right arm and the back of their left hand, respectively, from the weapon wielded by Mr. Kim and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including the motive for the crime, against the arrested Mr. Kim.
Meanwhile, CEO Lee Jae-myeong continues his 15th day of fasting.
