Marcus Knipping will take over the position of Managing Director Economics at the Bundesliga soccer team Rapid from June 1st. The Viennese announced this on Friday. The 58-year-old German worked in various positions at Borussia Dortmund for over 30 years until February 2021. Knipping agreed on a contract with Rapid until the summer of 2026. Werner Kuhn will continue to work in his interim position as business manager until May 31.
“SK Rapid from Vienna is still a big name in European football. I am absolutely convinced of the potential of the club and I would like to use all my experience to help Rapid to celebrate success at all levels in the years to come.” said Knipping in a first statement. President Alexander Wrabetz is pleased to “welcome an experienced professional who has held a leading position at one of the largest football clubs in Europe for decades.”
Knipping completes the management trio of the green-whites, which also includes Steffen Hofmann (managing director of SK Rapid) and Markuskatzer (managing director of sport).
