Kohler dreams of leading Al-Ahly to win the Champions League

The Swiss Marcel Koehler, the new technical director of the Egyptian Al-Ahly football team, expressed his happiness to assume the responsibility of the technical leadership of the red team.
Koehler said in statements to his club’s official website, that he will do his best to achieve success with the club, and to delight its large fans everywhere.
He added that taking over the technical leadership in Al-Ahly is a new experience and a great challenge that requires everyone to cooperate, join hands and adhere to team spirit; Until success is achieved, noting that he has worked for many years in Germany and Austria, and is well aware that training in a club the size of the African champion will be very different, and requires more effort and work.
He explained that the negotiations with him went very well, after Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club’s president, spoke to him, stressing that he was a football player, which played an important role in the success of the negotiations.
Kohler indicated that he had already watched a number of Al-Ahly matches, and had obtained a lot of information about him.
He continued, “I started to learn a lot about the team, but of course the vision on the ground will be different from what I saw from the recorded footage. And when I see the players on the pitch, I can get a view of their technical level, and what they can bring to the team.”
The Swiss coach stressed, of course, that when I watched some matches, I had many observations that will be the beginning of my work with the players during the coming period.
He said: “Despite watching the team, I do not want to disclose my observations in public, because it is very important that we talk with the players at the beginning, and I have a lot of ideas, and certainly there are some things I want to change, and we must convey these ideas to the players at the beginning and work. strongly to apply it on the field.”
Koehler emphasized: “I am not a junior coach, I have a lot of experience in the coaching world. For a while, I have been working in the field of football, and I have a great passion for it, and I gained a lot of experience through my work with clubs in Switzerland and Germany, and with the Austrian national team. I love this job and have great enthusiasm for my job.
Kohler hinted: “I think that being in Al-Ahly is a new task, which I want to achieve success with. Of course, coaching a team like Al-Ahly is a great opportunity for us to work in Africa. I came to Cairo in 1988 as a player with the Swiss national team against Egypt, and I still remember this visit.”
Koehler continued: “I am trying to achieve the African Champions League, and certainly to win the local championships with the team.” Our goal is to win all the championships with Al-Ahly, and to achieve success at the global level.”
He added: Achieving championships requires a lot of effort and work, and I am confident that the players will do everything possible to win.
Al-Ahly’s new coach concluded his statements by saying: “What I always ask of the team’s players is to show respect and high quality, in addition to focus, and to master the different types of passes with the ball, and when we lose the ball, we must work to quickly recover it by putting pressure on the opponent, and putting him under constant pressure.” And faster.”
It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly finished last season in third place in the Egyptian league table, and also lost the Egypt Cup final to its traditional rivals Zamalek, as well as the African Champions League final by defeating Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
