KONE and AIO Forge Strategic Mobility Alliance
KONE, the elevator and escalator manufacturer, has signed a strategic letter of intent with the Egyptian industrial firm Arab International Optronics (AIO). The partnership aims to integrate KONE’s people-flow technology with AIO’s local manufacturing and technological resources, focusing on smart mobility and sustainable infrastructure.

The agreement was formalized during a ceremony attended by Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, and the Finnish Ambassador to Egypt, Riikka Eela.
Advancing Egypt’s Vision 2030
The collaboration is positioned as a direct contribution to the Egyptian government’s Vision 2030 initiative, which prioritizes the development of sustainable urban communities. By merging KONE’s global expertise with AIO’s domestic industrial capacity, the firms plan to address the challenges of the country’s evolving urban landscape.
“This Letter of Intent represents an important step in strengthening collaboration between global expertise and Egyptian industrial capabilities to create long-term value for the local market,” said Ahmed Fathi, Managing Director of KONE Egypt. Fathi noted that the collaboration focuses on developing “reliable and future-focused” mobility solutions that prioritize safety and seamless movement within the country’s evolving urban landscape.
Industrial Synergy and Innovation
The core of the agreement lies in the integration of digitalized and sustainable urban mobility systems. For AIO, the partnership serves as a mechanism to bolster national development priorities by fostering industrial innovation.
The Chairman of Arab International Optronics emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to national infrastructure goals. “At AIO, we believe strategic collaborations play an important role in supporting national development priorities, fostering innovation, and creating sustainable long-term impact,” the chairman stated. The company aims to use this framework to advance the deployment of future-focused technologies across Egypt’s expanding urban footprint.
Defining the Path for Future Projects
The letter of intent establishes the formal framework for the partnership, though specific details regarding pilot projects or implementation timelines are still under discussion. The document serves as a foundation to guide future joint ventures in the smart mobility sector.
As of the signing, both KONE and AIO have confirmed their intent to continue exploring technical synergies. The exact scope of upcoming infrastructure deployments will be determined by an ongoing collaborative assessment of market needs and urban planning requirements.
