Koreans have to wait 2.5 years for their Hyundai, Kia and Genesis

Hyundai Motor Group may prioritize other markets because of the benefit from the depreciation of the South Korean won against the US dollar. The decline has been almost continuous since December 2020, when one dollar could buy 1,090 won. Now it is valued at 1,410 won.

Whether the focus of the concern has shifted to foreign markets is not known for sure, but the delivery time for new cars of brands controlled by it is growing rapidly. Last year, customers from South Korea had to wait about 11 months, and this year – 2.5 years.

Koreans pour out their bewilderment on thematic forums. So, one of the users recalled that just a year ago, the waiting time for one of the models was only seven months. One of the local officials denied rumors about the priority for the Western markets to the detriment of the domestic one: according to him, the terms for foreign customers are no less, and the shortage of microcircuits is to blame for everything.
