Pristina: Road traffic has been restored on the Kosovo-Serbia border. The conflict was caused by the banning of vehicles with Belgrade plates in the areas bordering Serbia in Kosovo and the subsequent blocking of the road by ethnic Serbs.
The protesters agreed to open the road after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke with Serbs in northern Kosovo. Fears of war have been fueled by Serbia’s increased military deployment along the border, citing alleged persecution of ethnic Serbs in Kosovo.
After a bloody war in 1998-99, majority-Albanian Kosovo was liberated from Serbia. World countries including the United States have recognized Kosovo as an independent country, but Serbia is not ready.
