THE CHAIRMAN of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy’ari, will report a complaint to the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) regarding alleged immoral acts. The complaint will be submitted by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-FHUI).
Based on the invitation for coverage received by Media Indonesia, LKBH-FHUI will report this matter to DKPP today, Thursday (18/4) at 15.30 WIB. The LKBH-FHUI client mentioned in the invitation was a woman who served on the overseas election committee (PPLN).
In the invitation, it was not stated which PPLN member was referred to as the complainant. However, LKBH-FHUI said that it had complained about violations of the election organizers’ code of ethics (KEPP) against the chairman and member of the KPU, Hasyim Asy’ari.
“The chairman of the KPU was reported because he was alleged to have committed immoral acts based on power relations which violated the oaths/promises of KPU members as well as the integrity and professionalism of election organizers for his personal purposes,” read the invitation to coverage sent by the complainant’s attorney, LKBH-FHUI.
Hasyim’s previous allegations of violations of the KEPP related to immorality were also reported to the DKPP last year by the Chair of the Republic One Party, namely Hasnaeni or who is often called the Golden Woman.
However, even though he was given a final stern warning, at that time the DKPP stated that Hasyim had not been proven to have committed sexual harassment against Hasnaeni as complained about.
However, Hasyim was proven to have a personal closeness to Hasnaeni because he intensively communicated via social media to exchange news outside the 2024 election agenda. For DKPP, Hasyim’s closeness to Hasnaeni violated professional principles and tarnished the honor of the KPU as an election organizing institution. (Z-3)
