THE General Elections Commission (KPU) is under pressure regarding compliance with the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling. The court decided on a 7.5 percent threshold and minimum age limit for candidates in the 2024 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada).

“Urging the KPU to immediately issue a KPU Regulation (PKPU) based on the Constitutional Court Decision Number 60/PUU-XXII/2024,” said the Coordinator of the BEM SI Rakyat Alliance, Satria N, in his statement (24/8).

Satria emphasized that the PKPU is needed so that there is no disobedience to the Constitutional Court’s decision. Given that there have been efforts by the DPR to revise the Pilkada Law after the Constitutional Court’s decision.

“Urging the Constitutional Court not to become a tool of power in attempts to manipulate the law,” said Satria.

On the other hand, Satria said his party urged the DPR Baleg to immediately issue a letter of cancellation. The letter is related to the cancellation of the ratification of the revision of the Pilkada Law.

“Urging the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives to comply with the Constitutional Court’s decision,” said Satria.

Finally, he demanded all high state institutions to act professionally. They must work in accordance with their main tasks and functions, while maintaining the dignity of the institution.

“Urging all high state institutions to maintain and care for the spirit of democracy and reform,” he said. (M-4)
