Kraainem double murder: three months later, the police on the trail of a crucial witness

Last March, Coline (17) and her mother Magali were coldly murdered, stabbed, in their house in Kraainem, in the middle of the night. The killer then fled in the mother’s car. No trace of burglary was observed at the scene, except that the mobile phones of the two victims had disappeared.

Three months later, a new lead emerges: police discovered footage of a crucial witness with a bright orange bag. This one may have information that could lead to the killer.

The man is visible on surveillance images in the Tongerenstraat, in Etterbeek. He is of normal build, dressed sportily and carries an orange bag. It’s not easy to see in the footage, which was taken on the night of March 23-24, whether he’s wearing a black mouth mask or has a black beard. The police are looking for him urgently. “If this man recognizes himself, we ask him to come forward. People who think they recognize him can also contact us.”

The car that was stolen is a silver colored Skoda Roomster. Shortly after the double murder, the car landed in the space reserved for buses at the Sacré-Coeur de Lindthout school, on avenue des Deux Tilleuls in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, about 5 kilometers from Coline’s house. and Magali. Surveillance footage allows police to map most of the vehicle’s path. As a result, the investigators know that he left Magali and Coline’s house around 5 a.m., and that he was abandoned about twenty minutes later.

On the video images, the driver is not clearly visible anywhere. And even when the car is abandoned, the driver remains out of sight. But, right after, it’s the man with the bright orange travel bag who appears.

Just after this tragic night, Pierre D., Magali’s ex-companion or, at the very least, the one who had just been ordered to leave the home, according to testimonies from relatives, had been directly charged. His alibi was to have spent the night with an acquaintance. However, no one saw him from evening to morning, although he claims to have stayed in his room.

In early May, the Brussels indictment chamber released him. But he remains suspected of the double assassination.

There are suspicions. But we maintain that there are no serious indications of guilt. That’s not enough to keep him in jail“, had commented the lawyer Dimitri de Béco during the release of his client.
