One in particular: Reto Hanselmann (40). The Zurich resident is usually always there, but had to cancel at short notice because he was sick in bed.
Which Halloween costume will Heidi Klum (50) choose this year? A question that her fans have been asking themselves for weeks – not least because the “Germany’s Next Top Model” boss keeps fueling the speculation herself. After more than 20 years, their annual party for the horror festival with many celebrities from show business is considered a cult. It’s not without reason that the hostess also bears the title of Halloween Queen.
One person who is a welcome guest at the exclusive celebration is Zurich It-Boy and event organizer Reto Hanselmann. “For seven years, apart from the two forced Corona breaks, I have been going to the event without interruption,” he says in an interview with 20 Minutes. But instead of taking a plane to New York City, the 40-year-old is sitting at home in bed. “I had to cancel at short notice because a nasty cold laid me completely flat.” He has been struggling with a fever for two days and is not feeling well at all.
“I think I’ve gotten a little carried away in the last few weeks,” he continues, alluding to his own celebrity Halloween party “Season of the Witch,” which took place last Saturday at the Zurich Kaufleuten. He goes on to explain: “It’s always the case that you get sick when stress and pressure are lifted from your shoulders.” But the moment couldn’t have been more inappropriate for him. “It really bothers me that I can’t be there for Heidi’s spectacular costume unveiling. The decision to cancel everything really wasn’t easy for me.”

He has no inkling of the model mom’s disguise, as he reveals: “She keeps it so secret that no one has a chance of getting information. I have to distract myself all the time so as not to look for clues to her disguise.” Heidi herself recently revealed in a show that a few streets in Manhattan had to be closed because of her. Hanselmann’s outfit would have been a little simpler. He had planned a skeleton suit. “You have to know that Halloween for the Americans is more like our carnival. It doesn’t necessarily have to be scary.”
At Klum’s event, the focus is more on a relaxed get-together than on a mega backdrop. «I can’t get any inspiration for my events. But that’s okay, nowhere else are you so close to A-list celebrities like Paris Hilton, Beyoncé or Mariah Carey and can have a ‘casual chat’ with them.” That’s why it’s already clear to Reto Hanselmann: “I’ll definitely be there again next year, that’s out of the question. I’m already looking forward to Heidi’s party always crowning and rounding off the crazy Halloween season.”
