Kross on the controversy against Leizig: “It would have to be given”

On the afternoon of February 13, Real Madrid headed their way to the quarterfinals of the Champions League by beating RB Leipzig 0-1 in the first leg of the round of 16.
The white team won thanks to a solitary goal from 24-year-old Spaniard Brahim Díaz in the 48th minute. However, the story could have been different since Leipzig had a goal disallowed when just 3 minutes had passed.
This action was one of the most commented on by fans on social networks and in the media, since many argued that there was no reason to annul the goal; while others expressed their agreement with how the match referee resolved.
The controversy even reached the ears of the footballers who were protagonists of the match, and in this particular case it was the German Toni Kross who spoke.
It was during an interview for German television after the match that Toni Kross mentioned that for him, the play could have ended in a goal in favor of Leipzig.
“Exactly the same, what do I have to say? I think in the end he whistles offside because he is in the way (the goalkeeper), but the goalkeeper can’t reach the ball, and that’s why the goal should be given“, he commented for Prime Video.
Despite the divided opinions, the truth is that the one who made the final decision was the referee Irfan Peljto and Real Madrid left the game with the victory.
The return is scheduled for March 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Guatemala at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid.
This Wednesday, February 14, the action will continue in the Uefa Champions League with the clashes between PSG and Real Sociedad and Lazio vs Bayern Munich, both at 2 p.m.
