KTM test rider Dani Pedrosa amazed the competition

The development that KTM has made since entering MotoGP in 2017 is more than impressive. Since the premiere victory in the premier class of motorcycling in 2020, the Austrian manufacturer has won races every season. As one of the main reasons for the success of the MotoGP project, KTM motorsport director Pit Beirer and Co. always cited their own test team, as this would lay the foundation for the results on the track in the background.

Dani Pedrosa proved on Friday practice at the Grand Prix in Jerez this weekend that the hymns of praise for the test department are not empty phrases. The KTM test rider promptly drove the best time in the first practice session with a new aerodynamics package (see rear wing in the picture). “I’m looking forward to this Grand Prix. It’s been quite a long time since I last drove a race,” said the 37-year-old Spaniard, who will be at the start of his home race thanks to a wildcard. “It’s about technical things, we have a limited contingent of tires during testing,” Pedrosa justified his start.

The chances that the 1.58 meter small Spaniard can also be up front in the sprint on Saturday and in the main race on Sunday (both 3 p.m. / live ServusTV) are good. Because Pedrosa was able to win four times in Jerez during his active career. The 54-times GP winner is threatened with resistance, especially from within his own ranks. The two regular KTM riders, Brad Binder and Jack Miller, also made a strong impression on Friday. The best time of the day was secured by Aprilia driver Aleix Espargaró in the second practice session.
