Two films regarding former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz will be released in September. That’s enough to fuel speculation regarding a possible comeback by the former ÖVP leader. In the detailed “Krone” interview Kurz clearly rejects the speculation. When asked whether he would return, he replied: “If you mean whether I will return to a political position, then I can tell you, definitely not.” He also has no plans to found his own party, “and to that extent I can rule out a return to politics.” When asked whether he would perhaps say “yes” if the ÖVP asked him to become party leader once more before the election following next, Kurz answered clearly: “I’m ruling that out.”
