Kuss defends Vuelta lead, Evenepoel takes day’s victory – cycling

Oviedo – The American Sepp Kuss is on the verge of overall victory at the Vuelta. The 29-year-old professional cyclist from Team Jumbo-Visma defended his lead on Thursday in the 18th stage of the Tour of Spain and is thus reaching for an unexpected triumph in a Grand Tour. The Belgian Remco Evenepoel took his third stage win of the current Vuelta following 178.9 kilometers from Pola de Allande to the Puerto de la Cruz de Linares and mathematically secured the mountain jersey.
