Kuwait: Kuwait is reportedly planning to sharply increase visa renewal fees. It is reported that it has been decided to increase the fee for visa renewal from next year. Some Arab media are reporting that the Ministry of Interior has held some discussions in this regard. The new move is part of reducing the presence of foreigners in the country.
The proposal is to increase the fee up to three times the current amount. A local newspaper reports that the final report on the increase in iqama fee has been submitted to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Sheikh Talal for approval. Although there have been several such proposals in the past, the decision regarding this has been postponed. If the proposals put forward now are accepted, it will be a big setback for the expatriates.
