KV Kortrijk’s First Victory of the Season: A Game-Changing Win Without Edward Still on the Bench

KV Kortrijk won their first victory of the season. An event which corresponds… to the first Kerels match without Edward Still on the bench.

Joseph Akpala will hand over the reins of KV Kortrijk to Glen De Boeck next week with a perfect record of 100% points taken. The former FC Bruges striker was T1 for the Kerels this Friday once morest Cercle de Bruges, and KVK won its first victory of the season.

Kortrijk hosted a vengeful Cercle following two consecutive defeats, at RWDM and once morest Union Saint-Gilloise. But the performance of Groen & Zwart on the lawn of the Stade des Eperons d’Or will leave something to be desired.

Kortrijk will eventually take the advantage via Dion De Neve, clearly one of the best Kortrijk players in this gloomy start to the season (1-0, 58th). Isaak Davies will double the lead in a poor match in the 77th minute, and KV Kortrijk therefore wins quite convincingly, despite a late goal from Lopes in the 90th + 3 (2-1).

With this victory which looks very much like an electric shock following the dismissal of Still, Kortrijk leaves Westerlo alone in the bottom position and comes within 2 points of Charleroi and Standard, who will therefore be a little under pressure on the road this weekend.
