KV Social Economy: Salaries will be increased by 9.2 percent

Conclusion well above the inflation rate

Vienna (OTS) On the night of Monday to Tuesday, a collective agreement was reached after 16 hours in the third round of negotiations for the 130,000 employees in the private care, health and social sectors (Austrian social economy). Wages and salaries as well as allowances and surcharges will be increased by 9.2 percent. The increase applies equally to actual income and minimum income. The new minimum wage is 2,067.40 euros. ++++

“With this conclusion, employees will be financially relieved. For example, a social worker with 10 years of service now earns over 300 euros more per month working full-time. The salary increases will ease the worries of many employees who can barely afford their lives and cushion the impact of inflation. Especially in comparison with other sectors, it becomes clear that an increase above the inflation rate of 8.7 percent is anything but a given,” says Eva Scherz, negotiator for the GPA union.

Michaela Guglberger, negotiator for the vida union, explains: “This agreement was only possible because of our solidarity. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the company meetings and thus increased the pressure. At the same time, this conclusion is proof that social partnership works in our industry. Through respectful negotiations, we achieved a result that is impressive.”

In addition to the monetary settlement, important improvements in the framework law were achieved:

+ Pay during night shifts will be increased.

+ The surcharge for stepping in will be increased by 15 percent and will be applied more often.

+ The regulation for the entitlement to dirt, difficulty and danger allowance (SEG allowance) is being improved.

+ The recognition of foreign training will be improved.

+ Certain previous service periods are given improved credit.

+ The surcharges for overtime hours are payable from 8 additional hours (previously 16) (reduction in “buffer hours”).

+ Employees in early education are placed in employment group 8, which means that many receive higher salaries.
