A Kyongnam Bank employee was put on trial for embezzling more than 130 billion won over seven years.
As a result of the prosecution’s investigation, it was confirmed that this employee invested in stocks with embezzled money.
More than 100 gold bars were also found in the employee’s home.

A Kyongnam Bank employee was put on trial for embezzling more than 130 billion won.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office arrested and indicted Mr. Lee, who was working as the head of the investment finance department at Kyongnam Bank.
The charges applied include embezzlement and forgery of private documents under the Special Police Act.
Mr. Lee is in charge of managing real estate PF loans and is accused of embezzling 138.7 billion won of company funds for about 7 years from 2016 to last year.
First, Mr. Lee used the method of withdrawing the money by forging the withdrawal slip again when the real estate developer paid off the loan.
In this way, from August 2016 to October 2021, Lee remitted 69.9 billion won to his family or ghost company on a total of 11 occasions, as a result of the prosecution’s investigation.
In addition, the prosecution’s investigation confirmed the allegations of siphoning an additional 68.8 billion won from July 2019 to July last year by forging loan requests and deceiving developers as if they were requesting new loans.
It was investigated that Lee invested in futures and stocks with the stolen money.
Prosecutors, who received a complaint from Kyongnam Bank in July, immediately seized and searched the house of Mr. Lee and his family.
More than 100 gold bars, cash of 4.5 billion won, and gift certificates worth 40 million won were found in Mr. Lee’s house.
Prosecutors suspect that Lee exchanged the embezzlement money for gold bars and gift certificates to avoid tracing the funds.
Prosecutors have so far secured 17.3 billion won worth of crime damages, including Lee’s assets.
Prosecutors plan to continue investigating Lee’s accomplices as well as whether or not he committed additional embezzlement.
