According to Anyang City, on the 26th, Cho Kyu-seong visited Anyang City Hall and met with Anyang City Mayor Choi Dae-ho, the owner of FC Anyang.
Jo, who started his career as a professional player by joining FC Anyang, has a special affection for FC Anyang to the extent that he watched the home game of FC Anyang even before enlisting in the military.
Cho Kyu-seong said, “I’ve been sincere in soccer since high school, and I’m always grateful to have grown like this since I started at FC Anyang, and it’s a team I have so much affection for.”
He also said, “The club took good care of me, and I love the city of Anyang itself.”
Mayor Choi Dae-ho encouraged him, saying, “Jo, who has grown into the best striker in the World Cup through constant training, has moved the hearts of many citizens.”
Mayor Choi also said, “It would be great if someday in the future, Jo would develop Korean soccer in a different way, such as discovering and nurturing the second Cho Kyu-seong, and continue his relationship with FC Anyang.” It is a dream and goal to organize and operate as a citizen-centered club.”
On this day, Park Gwi-jong, the Anyang City Sports Association, and other officials from the sports association also attended and had a meaningful event to welcome Cho and congratulate the Korean national soccer team for advancing to the round of 16.
On the 28th of last month, Cho scored two goals against Ghana in the second leg of the Group H group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first Korean player to score multiple goals in the World Cup finals. In other games, he actively participated in physical fights and contributed to advancing to the round of 16.
Cho, who joined FC Anyang as a priority designation in 2019 after going through Anyang Technical High School and Gwangju University, which are FC Anyang youth teams, has been selected as the ‘K League 2 Best 11’ by playing an active role as a ‘9’ forward striker. He is making a big success by recording this year’s FA Cup MVP, K League 1 Best 11, and K League 1 top scorer.
