L. Kasčiūnas offers a civil resistance course to all public sector employees

As stipulated in the amendment to the Law on Mobilization and Support of the Host Country registered at the end of last week, civil servants and employees of state and municipal institutions and institutions working under an employment contract should take this course.

“I expanded the list so that as many people working in the public sector as possible have the opportunity to have these courses,” the MP told BNS.

The amendments also provide that public sector employees who have not previously attended training programs during the war of mobilization and civil resistance must do so within a year of taking office.

“Part of the public sector people, especially in key positions, go to the civilian mobilization reserve to ensure the defense functions of the state. There are 70 thousand in that civilian mobilization reserve. people, of course there are doctors and everything else. (…) They already know by signature what they would do on X day, they should work to fulfill their further functions, their further role, so that the state continues to function”, said L. Kasčiūnas.

“And the other part, without a doubt, could, first of all, strengthen their knowledge during the courses, about the entire civil resistance, about possible solutions in the approach of Day X, to have a family defense plan and the like. That’s the idea,” he added.

According to the politician, training could be conducted remotely.

Previously, the head of NSGK proposed an amendment to the Civil Service Law to make the civil resistance course mandatory only for civil servants. The entire Seimas also approved such an idea during the first vote.

However, the Government stated this week that the obligation to attend the civil resistance course should be applied more widely, including more public sector employees. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to provide for these changes in the next law.

In response to the aforementioned criticism, L. Kasčiūnas prepared the new proposals.
