PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Riqui Puig scored and assisted the LA Galaxy in a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Football Club on Tuesday before an MLS-record Rose Bowl crowd of 82,110.

The 18th edition of the Los Angeles rivalry known as “El Tráfico” broke the previous record of 74,479 last year when Charlotte FC played its first home game against the LA Galaxy.

Tuesday’s game was originally scheduled for February 25, as the biggest game of the first day of the MLS regular season, but the duel was postponed due to heavy rain and wind in Southern California.

Puig set up Tyler Boyd, who opened the scoring in the 26th minute and then scored the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute for the Galaxy, who have not lost in their last six games with two wins and four draws.

LAFC equalized after 57 minutes with a goal from Ilie Sánchez. The defending MLS Cup champion had lost three in a row and five of his last seven.

LAFC tried to tie with a shot from Mexican Carlos Vela at minute 84, but the referee considered it out of place.

While Josef Martinez scored his sixth goal of the season in the 90th minute and reached his 104 career goal as Inter Miami drew 2-2 with the Columbus Crew on Tuesday.

Miami was coming off its first draw of the season and with which the seven-game losing streak came to an end and had gone 28 consecutive games in the regular season without a tie.

In other games, Orlando City thrashed Toronto 4-0 and DC United beat Dallas 1-0.
