La Jornada – UNAM launches calls for shortlists from the FCA and Institute of Geography

Mexico City. The UNAM authorities issued this week the calls to form the shortlists from which the new heads of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration (FCA) and the Institute of Geography will be chosen, for the period 2024-2028.

In the most recent issue of the UNAM Gazette, a document dated yesterday was published in which the Secretary of Institutional Development of the highest house of studies, Patricia Dávila Aranda, reports on the beginning of the auscultation process to choose who will direct to the FCA for the next 4 years.

Therefore, he announced that from January 25 to February 9, the names of possible candidates for the position can be sent to the UNAM General Secretariat.

Likewise, the coordinator of Scientific Research of the University, María Soledad Funes Argüello, also announced the call so that, no later than February 2, the community of the Institute of Geography proposes the names of those who might be part of the shortlist to elect the new director.

The above announcements are added to other changes that will occur in the coming weeks in various schools and institutes of the UNAM, among them the Faculty of Economics, where a few days ago it was announced that the shortlist to define the next head is made up of María Teresa Aguirre Covarrubias, Lorena Rodríguez León and César Octavio Vargas Téllez.

Meanwhile, at the Faculty of Medicine the shortlist is made up of Andrés Eliu Castell Rodríguez, Teresita Corona Vázquez and Ana Carolina Sepúlveda Vildósola. In the case of this campus, the final decision will be announced by the UNAM Governing Board on January 29.

Said collegiate body also published on its website the call that was issued on December 4, 2023 to form the shortlist from which the next person to direct the Philological Research Institute will emerge.
